I wanted to scream, “Hey, time out Mr. Muscle Head!” I was deeply offended, although I have to admit it was a great class!
Cover bands get a bad rap. After all, we don’t actually WRITE the music that we perform. All we do is listen to someone else’s music and copy it. Anyone can do that!
Not quite. Most people don’t even think about the fact that in order to get it to sound close to what it originally was, you have to be as talented as the musicians who originally played on it. Plus, you usually have to do it after bringing in and setting up your own equipment. Not to mention sometimes having to run the sound from the stage. I haven’t heard Katy Perry mention that she will be doing her own setup at the Super Bowl, so I don’t think that is going to be happening.
In less you are incredibly wealthy, you trust the cover band with the entertainment for some of the most memorable events of your life. Your wedding, your 50th birthday party, your baby shower. And most times, we absolutely nail it!
The cover bands are at your local dive, your favorite nightclub or the casino lounge you go to sit in after you have lost a couple hundred bucks at the blackjack table and just need a break. We make you forget about what a lousy boss you have, that girlfriend who dumped you or the fact that your car needs another set of brakes. We make you dance. We play your favorite songs. We entertain you. We make memories with you.
The next time you have a free night and you aren’t sure what you want to do, go see a cover band. I am of course, totally partial to coming to see L.A. Lyon, but if you can’t make it to see us, check out someone else. It might have you saying you are going to work out like a cover band!
