HAPPY NEW LIFE

This week when my dog Samantha and I went for our nightly walk, we went past a church in our neighborhood.  Hanging from the church is a banner for their Easter service that says, “Celebrate Your New Life.”

Every time we walked by it, I thought about that statement.  It gave me a new perspective on this spring holiday that’s meaning sometimes gets clouded by a rabbit carrying baskets.

My life has felt new lately.  A recent promotion at a job I actually really enjoy has given me some hope of getting out of the financial hole I have spent the last two years in. New responsibilities at the job, although sometimes chaotic and a little overwhelming, have also been challenging and fun.  It feels good to be needed and appreciated. These will be the parts of my new life that I am going to be thankful for and celebrate this Sunday.

Thinking you have the same old life and nothing to celebrate? You don’t need a new job, a cross country move or a new baby to have a “new life”.  Finding a great new restaurant, making a new friend, discovering a new song, are all mini-new lives.  All things we should be grateful for.

I think everyone, regardless of their religious beliefs, should celebrate this Sunday. If not Happy Easter, then Happy New Life!

GIVING IT A MONTH

I bought two great looking outdoor pillows this week from Walmart for under twenty dollars. They were celebration pillows and they look  great in the sunny corner of my home office. Check out my HOME IDEAS page for pictures!

And what was I celebrating? A stressful personal situation that I had been dealing with finally came to an end. It had been going on for months and it came to a head on a day in the beginning of March.  I saw no clear resolution.  I love to take action and fix problems and there was little I could do to fix this one.  I was angry and frustrated and a little depressed over not just the loss of control, but of the thought of it dragging on indefinitely without resolution.

Then, almost miraculously through a series of events, the tangled situation unraveled itself, strand by strand.  There were some bumps along the way, but I began to see a light at the end of the tunnel and for once, it wasn’t an oncoming train!

And on the first Thursday in April, almost one month to the day, the problem got resolved.  Not because of something I did or said, but just because sometimes things in life really do work out for the best.

Nothing is forever and yes, good things end, but then sometimes so do bad.

I’ve decided the next time I don’t see a fix for something that seems insurmountable, I am going to give it a month. It may just need a little extra time to resolve itself.
