But my new mindset of not spending money and using what you have means sometimes you have to get over old fears. I had some curtains that started out gold in my living room and when they moved to my office, full of bright pinks, yellows and greens, they blended in, instead of popping out. It was clear they needed to be fuchsia and this weekend, between a great gig with L.A. Lyon at Route 66 in Duarte and heading over to Pasadena Playhouse with the D-Man to see my celebrity crush Wayne Brady in an entertaining production of “Kiss Me Kate”, I took the plunge.
To my surprise, it was much easier than I expected. I followed the directions on the little white bottle, but missed a wash cycle when I got a phone call and the curtains still turned out just like I imagined. The pink ring in the washer cleaned up quickly with a hot cycle and some bleach. Actually the washer hasn’t been that clean in some time! What I love is the thought that the next time I see something on clearance that isn’t the right color, little white bottle here I come! One more fear checked off and proof once again, that sometimes things you imagine are hard, really aren’t as bad as you think they are going to be.
So check out the pictures of two lives of the same curtains below. This week dyeing, next up skydiving? Or maybe I will take that Improv class I keep thinking about!
