Lisa Ann Lyon and Samantha
Who is The Girl InThe Band? Great question. Whenever I want to describe who I am, I always think of the lyrics to the Frank Sinatra classic, “That’s Life.” For those of you who don’t know who Frank Sinatra is, think of a Justin Bieber type who continues to perform into his old age.
Any way, the lyrics, go like this:
I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
A poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
But I know one thing:
Each time I find myself flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race
My life to a tee, with a few edits. My personal lyrics are listed below and yes, I can get them to fit with the melody line.
I’ve been a factory girl, cosmo girl, corporate girl, fix it girl and the girl in the band.
I’ve been, up and down and over and out
And I’ve even been canned.
But each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race
You get the idea. Obviously, I never made any money writing lyrics, but here is what I have done. I have survived tax issues, a major house fire, bankruptcy, job losses, broken relationships and moving cross country. I’ve worked in factories, at major financial institutions, internet start ups, been a landlord and even did a stint at McDonald’s. Did I mention I sing, manage, haul equipment and run sound for my own cover band?
Shopping is my favorite hobby and recently financially impaired, I am finding a real joy in getting great stuff that is not overpriced. I am a total HGTV addict and love to do home improvement projects, some successful, some not so much. One project ended up with my garage burning down and me out of my house for eleven months, something I don’t think even Martha Stewart can say she’s done.
Now I am trying my hand at a blog. Why a blog? I decided I have made enough bad decisions and stupid mistakes to be able to share some sound advice on getting through every day setbacks and setting yourself up for a comeback.
Because despite it all, I still wake up every day and ask,” What’s next?”
I hope you’ll come along and find out.
